The PRP facial, or Platelet Rich Plasma facial, is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure. A couple of syringes of a patient’s blood is removed from the arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma – the fluid part – from the red and white blood cells. The concentrated plasma that is rich in platelets (the part of the blood with growth factors) is then injected back into multiple areas of the skin in an effort to treat wrinkles and “rejuvenate” the face. PRP can be combined with dermal fillers to further plump up problem areas, such as under the eye.
What is Platelet Rich Plasma?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is blood plasma that has been enriched with a concentration of human platelets. It is also referred to as autologous platelet gel, plasma rich growth factors (PRGFs) or autologous platelet concentrate. PRP is a concentration of the fundamental protein growth factors that play an important role in every phase of tissue regeneration.
When activated, either by thrombin or calcium chloride, PRP takes on the form of a viscous gel (PRFM) containing high levels of several platelet-derived growth factors (cytokines) that may then be injected into the face in much the same manner as other dermal fillers such as Juvederm
What is Autologous Cell Regeneration?
Autologous cell regeneration is the biostimulation of the cells of the dermis using an injection technique which utilizes the patient’s own bio-active platelet rich plasma (PRP), including leucocytes. The aim of these injections is to stimulate and regenerate aged and damaged skin and hypodermal tissues, and to produce a new dermis.

| First, the injector (1) uses dermal fillers to create a beautiful shape. (2) Then, the physician isolates growth factors from the patient’s blood using the PRP. (3) When these growth factors enter the face (injected by the physician), then multi-potent stem cells become activated to grow new tissue. This new tissue includes new collagen, new fatty tissue (for smoothness), and new blood vessels (for a healthy glow). 1. Dermal fillers are used in the same way as usual to correct volume loss and improve wrinkles and lines. 2. Isolating & Activating the Magic from Your Blood. Blood is taken and centrifuged isolating platelets (platelet-rich plasma or PRP)– this takes about 10 minutes. The platelets are activated to release growth factors that would normally be used to heal injured tissue. These growth factors cause increased collagen & new blood flow. To rejuvenate new skin, these growth factors must be put back into your face. 3. Injecting the PRP into Your Face. Using numbing cream and a very small needle (for almost no pain), the physician injects the woman’s own growth factors back into her face in a particular way. These growth factors then activate multi-potent stem cells already in the skin (tricking them into “thinking” there’s been an injury and new younger tissue should generated). The multi-potent stem cells then develop into new collagen, new blood vessels, and new fatty tissue trying to “repair” the skin that was never injured! The result…younger-appearing skin!
